Spring Homecoming Candidates Announced

Nine Hobbs High School senior girls are in the running for spring Homecoming Queen while nine boys have also been nominated for the Homecoming King title. The winning couple will be crowned during a March 3 HHS assembly.  The candidates are:


head shot of girlMadison Rotunno, who  is nominated by the Hobbs High golf team.  She is the daughter of Victor and Tammy Rotunno.  In addition to golf, Rotunno is a member of the varsity volleyball team and National Honor Society.  She will be escorted by Tyson Trevino, the son of Cody and Angelia Trevino.


head shotAshley Aragon, the daughter of Ray Aragon and Chasity Aragon, was nominated by the Lady Eagles basketball team. She will be escorted by Isaiah Lewis, son of Pete Lewis and Lisa Lewis.



head shotRose Baijense, a Science Olympiad nominee, is also a member of Studio Art, Gay Straight Alliance and is enrolled in the Dual-Credit Academy.  The daughter of Hanz and Sharon Baijense, she is escorted by Mason Acosta.  Acosta’s parents are Robert and Amanda Acosta.


head shotAlexandra Ruvalcaba, the daughter of Jose and Alma Ruvalcaba, is the Lady Eagles wrestling team nominee.  Ruvalcaba is a three-year varsity letterman, is an Early College High School student and is a NMJC Honor Society member. She will be escorted by Brayden Strickland, son of Gene and Dena Strickland.  



head shotThe Hobbs High Studio Art club nominee is Kacie Tramell. She dances for Maciolek School of Dance and is also involved in studio theatre and band. Tramell is the daughter of Richard Tramell and Maghann Tramell. She will be escorted by Brian Garcia, son of Andres and Ida Garcia.



head shotNayeli Martinez was nominated by the Lady Eagles softball team.  She is the daughter of Emma Montes and Ezequiel Martinez and will be escorted by Devin Ruiz, a son of Daisy Rodriguez and Joel Ruiz.




head shotSaqqary Baker, the daughter of Dominique Baker, was nominated by the Lady Eagles track and field team. Baker is also a member of the varsity volleyball team and Student Council.  She will be escorted by Derrias Royal, son of Katina Royal.

head shotAddison Smith was nominated by the Hobbs High Student Body.  She is the daughter of Shawn and Crystal Smith. Smith will be escorted by Josh Jaquez, a son of Oscar and Gracie Jaquez.



head shotAlyssa Carmona is another HHS student body nominee. A student athletic trainer who also participates in FFA and HHS theater, she is the daughter of Oscar and Lucrecia Carmona. She will be escorted by Logan Whitehead, the son of Wade and Leann Whitehead.



head shotJose Cruz is the track and field team nominee. Cruz, the son of Jose and Olivia Cruz, also plays on the soccer team. He will be escorted by Mariana Nino, the daughter of Ricardo and Maria Nino.


head shotBrian Arreola was nominated by the Eagles basketball team.  He is the son of Omayra Melendez and will be escorted by Anistyn Landrum, a daughter of Chuck and Teresa Landrum.



head shotJuan Moreno, the son of Blanca Cameron, is the tennis team nominee. Moreno also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.  His escort will be Naomi Vega, the daughter of Tere Silva.



head shotMichael Acosta was nominated by the Eagles baseball team.  He is the son of Ramiro and Melissa Acosta. Acosta will be escorted by Zoie Martinez, the daughter of Lupe Martinez.




head shotDexter Nelson, the son of Jesse and Lisa Nelson, was nominated by the Eagles wrestling team. Nelson is also involved in HHS theatre and the National Honor Society.  He will be escorted by Taylor Fonseca, the daughter of Jesus and Mikal Fonseca.



head shotSamuel Martinez was nominated by the Eagles swim team. Also involved in National Honor Society and Skills USA, he is the son of Guillermo and Irma Martinez.  Martinez will be escorted by Kialee Chavarria, the daughter of Stacy Frausto.



head shotOctavian Brewer is a Hobbs High Student Body nominee.  He is the son of Troy and Christina Brewer. He will be escorted by Keianna Flores, the daughter of Bill Flores and Lisa Bustos.



head shotTroy White was also nominated by the HHS Student Body.  He is a member of the swim team, SkillsUSA and Interact Club. White is the son of Kevin and Julie White. He will be escorted by Liz Honigmann, the daughter of Melissa Sawyers and Pete Honigmann.



head shotErick Saucedo is the E-Sports Club nominee. Also a member of SkillsUSA, Saucedo is a son of Pedro and Gladys Saucedo. He will be escorted by Kasandra Lopez, a daughter of Dora Cisneros.
