As we continue to progress out of the pandemic, it remains abundantly clear the role our educators play in the lives of our young people. The week of May 2nd through May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Week. I hope you will take a moment and provide your teachers an expression of your appreciation. Campuses all across our great school district will be taking that opportunity. They will be honoring the teachers on their campus, many of you will be assisting in that practice. We appreciate you for honoring the service the teachers provide to our students on a daily basis.
As I see the selfless work of our educators within Hobbs Municipal Schools, I often reminisce on my childhood and the educators that helped shape, mold, prepare and educate me for the opportunities that were to be my future. Just a few of those educators were Mrs. Stotlz, Kindergarten, Mrs. Creager, 1st, Mrs. Townsend, 2nd, Ms. Ayers, 3rd, Mr. Hogue, 4th, Mrs. Ballenger, 5th, Mrs. Bell, English, Mr. Long, Social Studies, Mrs. Cearley, English, Mr. Stroh, Math, Mrs. Yarbro, History, Mr. Jones, Choir, Ms. Ancell, Math, Mr. Collins, Math, Mr. Carter, Science, Mr. Black, History, Mr. Faith, Social Studies, Mr. Cearley, History, Mrs. Espinoza, English, Mrs. Inman, English, Ms. McGinnes, Choir, Dr. Abebe, Education, Dr. Pfaffenberger, Biology, Dr. Elder, History… the list goes on and on. These individuals, and many more, in their own unique way helped to mold a blonde headed, flat-top haircut, ornery kid into the educator I am today. I believe that they saw me as I could become and not as I was. They were honest with me in where I needed to grow and maybe most importantly, they held me accountable for when I was not progressing.
In the classrooms of Hobbs Municipal Schools, I see a countless number of the same acts of service and devotion that I was offered all throughout my educational journey. I am humbled by the tenacity our teachers display in the pursuit of opportunities for students. THANK YOU!
In line with opportunities for students, on May 21st, Hobbs Municipal Schools will honor the Hobbs High Class of 2022! They will graduate at 10:00 am. All indications point to the HHS Class of 2022 to be the largest class in the history of Hobbs High. The success of the graduating seniors is credit to students perseverance and the educators that have served each and every graduate.
Teachers, we appreciate and value your work and the calling on your life to provide a brighter future for our youth. Thank you
