Three Hobbs elementary schools were among the 32 honored Wednesday (Jan. 27) in the Capitol Rotunda.Jefferson, Edison and College Lane Elementary were each honored by Secretary of Education Veronica C. Garcia for fostering strong bilingual education that have helped English language learner students make academic progress. “The accomplishments of the schools receiving the Incentive Awards this year are the fruits of the dedication and commitment from students, administrators, teachers, parents and communities,”Garcia said. “I congratulate and celebrate with you on this special day.Schools were selected based on 2008-2009 results of state testing standards, professional development of staff, parent involvement, and scientifically based research programs like Dual Language.
