wizardStudents from Will Rogers, Broadmoor, College Lane and Sanger got decked out in classic costumes and makeup to perform the classic, Wizard of Oz, on Sept. 29.

amayaOnate ruined Hobbs' Homecoming by a score of  55-42 on Sept. 21. In spite of the loss, quarterback Brayden Price threw for a record 441 yards and Brandon Amaya (No. 33) also set a school record with 10 receptions for 110 yards.

homecomingHHS seniors Marina Casarez, Erik Pizarro and Cade Ross plant the symbolic flag at Iwo Jima on a class float for the Homecoming parade. The trio were given the honorary duty because they have enlisted in the U.S. Marines and will begin their service after graduation.


landrumSydnee Landrum was crowned Homecoming Queen during half-time ceremonies at the Sept. 21 football game. The coronation followed a school assembly and ride in the parade.

New Mexico Public Education Secretary Hanna Skandera hosted a Town Hall meeting in Hobbs on Sept. 20 at which she discussed, among other things, the state's new A-F grading system for schools.


soccerThe Eagles soccer team - along with goalie Sergio Torres - held Roswell scoreless in a 3-0 game on Sept. 18.



blackbeardEdison, Stone, Jefferson and Taylor Elementary school students were in full yo-ho-ho regalia on Saturday as they cated out Blackbeard the pirate, a Missoula Children's Theater production. Click on the picture for highlights.



pearceU.S. Rep. Steve Pearce autographs a U.S. Constitution booklet he gave to Leeann Holguin and other Hobbs High School students during a school lecture on Sept. 17 - Constitution Day. Also on campus for the day was Duke law professor Ernest Young, nephew of government teacher Jack Young.
