Broadmoor's 400 students were the guests of honor when the school held a dedication ceremony on Sept. 30.

Hundreds turned out for the Hobbs High School Homecoming parade on Broadway Street on Sept. 11.

Hobbs second graders got to try their hand at several ranch and farming activities - including roping steers - during the Sept 10 Staked Plains Roundup sponsored by the Western Heritage Center.


Jeremy Padilla rushed for 96 yards and had nine catches for another 55 yards - but it wasn't enough. The Eagles lost to Artesia on the road on Sept. 4 38-28.

cross country

April Sandoval was the higher finisher in third place at the Lovington Cross Country meet on Sept. 3. The boys team finished first.


Edison second-grader Xandria Duarte got a rousing reception on Sept. 2 when she enrolled in the school district two days earlier put HMS over the magic 10,000 student mark.


The Lady Eagles volleyball team opened its season at home on Sept. 1 with a 3-0 win over Lovington.
