eniors Nieajua "Shae" Gonzalez and Brandon Hinojos were crowned Queen and King on March 31 during the newly revised Spring Homecoming Assembly.

Broadmoor students and staff raised money for the American Heart Association on March 29 during a Jump-Rope-A-Thon.



vetetoMark Veteto, his daughter Janey Roan and her husband, Ash Roan surprised five teachers in their classrooms on Tuesday morning with the news they have been selected as this year's Excellence in Teaching award winners. Now in its 10th year, the Veteto Foundation has turned the spotlight on outstanding Hobbs teachers over the past decade and handed out more than $250,000 as an incentive to keep them in the classroom.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles each won at the Gene Wells track meet held at Watsom Stadium on March 24.

BTW Pre-kindergartners got an early start on a four-day weekend when they gathered eggs during an Easter Egg hunt on the school playground on March 24.

College Lane students who met their Accelerated Reading goal went to the drive-in movies on March 23 - in imaginative cars they and their parents built from cardboard boxes.

Lady Eagles honored cancer survivors or the memory of those who have passed away from cancer during a softball game against Artesia on March 18. The team sold shirts, license plates, food and other items to raise money for cancer awareness.

The Eagles beat Onate 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on March 18 that went into extra innings.

Lady Eagles softball players beat Lovington 19-9 on Wildcat turf on March 15.

The HHS spring production - High School Musical - was performed by theatre students beginning March 17 through March 21.

Fifth-graders from Broadmoor and Sanger got to sample a wide variety of mathematical activities during a Pi Day celebration at New Mexico Junior College on March 14, 2016


cheerleaders



Hobbs High School cheerleaders also got a chance to compete in state championship competition during the cheerleading contest on March 9 at The Pit (coinciding with the state basketball playoffs.)

The Eagles ended their basketball season on March 9 with a 65-37 loss to Onate in the quarterfinal playoff game.

Choir students from Hobbs High School and Freshman High School were on stage at Tydings Auditorium on March 7 for a "Music in our Schools" concert.

The Eagles hosted Sandia for the first round of state basketball championships on March 5 and had little problem advancing, winning by a score of 81-65.

The Lady Eagles opened their season at home on March 5 with a 6-2 win over San Angelo Central.

Students and teachers and elementary schools all over Hobbs put on the blue sox, whiskers and top hats to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2.





Artesia


The Eagles opened their season at home on March 1 by beating Artesia 6-2.
