Yvonne Carpenter

carpenterHobbs schools is proud to introduce its new teachers to our community. Look for a profile on a new instructor here on a regular basis.

I am Yvonne Carpenter and I teach English at Hobbs High School.

I grew up in Hobbs and graduated from Hobbs High School. I later graduated from NMJC, University of the Southwest and the University of Texas-Arlington.

The reason I want to teach is because it's important to be a positive role model for Hispanic young women as well as teach kids and my own children the value of education.

My favorite memory from my own days in school is when I would feel engaged with the teacher and in class.

In my spare time I like to read, travel, watch my kids play baseball and attend sporting events with my family.

My favorite book is:  I am an English teacher.  There are way too many to list.  I love reading all types of genres: fiction, mystery, non-fiction, memoirs, autobiographies and historical fiction. I am excited about teaching after a six-year absence because I will have time to read again!
