New Maintenance Director Named

Kibby Babb Mug ShotLongtime Hobbs Municipal Schools employee Kibby Babb has been promoted to district’s maintenance director – taking over the position left vacant by the recent retirement of Jeff Barker.
“Kibby has been Jeff’s right-hand man for more than 20 years and he’s literally going to pick up where Jeff left off,” said HMS Deputy Director of Operations Gene Strickland. “He has the same mind set and the same goal of making our maintenance department the best in the state. All of his work is directed toward the best interest of kids.”
Babb first went to work for HMS in July of 1996 as an electrician in the maintenance department. He eventually moved up the ladder to become assistant maintenance director. Babb is a 1979 Hobbs High graduate, the father of three and grandfather of five.
Replacing Babb as assistant maintenance director is another longtime HMS employee - Mark Kirby.
