ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
All students enrolling in the Hobbs Municipal Schools must have the following documents:
· Official Birth Certificate – State Issued (not hospital certificate);
· Immunization Records (due to State laws, if immunization records are not available, student(s) will not be enrolled);
· Social Security Card (when available);
· Parent/Guardian must provide two (2) forms of proof of residence (please see the list of items that will be accepted);
· Information from previous school student(s) attended (phone, address, etc.);
Other Information you may be required to provide:
· If student(s) has guardian(s), you will need to provide guardianship papers, court documents and/or Power of Attorney showing your guardianship to enroll student(s);
· Court documents providing custody information; parental involvement.
ENROLLMENT DATES FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2011 - 2012
KINDERGARTEN Children who will be five (5) years old prior to 12:01 a.m. on September 1st, are eligible to attend a kindergarten class in the school zone in which they live. Kindergarten pupils should be enrolled between 8:00 a.m. and noon, or 1:00 p.m. thru 3:00 p.m., August 2, - August 5, 2011, in the school serving the zone where they live. Parents must present an official state birth certificate (not a hospital certificate), as well as an immunization record and Social Security Card, in order to enroll a kindergarten student. If previously enrolled during Kindergarten Round-Up, please call to verify attendance of your child (ren).
Due to the high enrollment numbers for Kindergarten students, please remember that if you are unable to enroll your kindergarten student in the school zone in which you reside, the student will automatically be placed at the Kindergarten School, B.T. Washington. The student will be registered as a student in the school zone in which they reside, but attend B.T. Washington.
***Those students unable to attend the school zone in which they reside due to a large enrollment, will be placed on a waiting list in the event an opening becomes available. Students will be considered for this placement based upon the date, time and number given when student attempted to enroll in their school zone.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS Students who were not enrolled in Hobbs Schools on the last day of class last year should report to the school in the zone in which they live during the week of August2, 2011 – August 5, 2011. School offices will be open from 8 a.m. until noon, and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to enroll. All students previously enrolled in the Hobbs Municipal Schools should call their school to verify attendance for the 2011 - 2012 school year.
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Junior High students (grades 7 – 8) who were not enrolled in Hobbs Municipal Schools on the last day of class last year should report to the school for the zone in which they live between 8:00 a.m. and noon, and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on August 2, 2011, - August 12, 2011. Parents should consult the principal, assistant principal, or counselor of the school their child will attend to arrange for late enrollment. Schedules will be picked up on the first day of classes, on August 17th.
PRE-ENROLLED JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS Pre-enrolled Junior High students must report to pick up their schedules at the school in the zone where they live on August 17th. Please call the appropriate school for verification of attendance for the 2011 - 2012 school year.
FRESHMAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Freshman High students (grade 9) who were not enrolled in Hobbs Municipal Schools on the last day of class last year should report to the Freshman School between 8:00 a.m. and noon, and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on August 2, 2011 – August 12, 2011. Parents should consult the principal, assistant principal, or counselor of the school their child will attend to arrange for late enrollment. Schedules will be picked up on the first day of classes, on August 17th.
PRE-ENROLLED FRESHMAN HIGH STUDENTS Pre-enrolled Freshman High students must report to pick up their schedules at the Freshman School in the zone where they live on August 17th. Please call the appropriate school for verification of attendance for the 201 - 2012 school year
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Students new to Hobbs High School who have not enrolled for the coming school year need to do so immediately. Students may enroll in the high school counseling office from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. through August 12, 2011. All students need to be enrolled by August 12th. Those students not enrolled by August 12th may do so by calling 433-0212 (HHS Counseling Office) to make an appointment with a counselor.
Enrollment and Out-of-Zone Proof of Residence Documentation:
All school locations will use the lists approved below for residency purposes. Two (2) proofs of residence must be provided for Enrollment and for an Out-of-Zone Request.
1) One must come from List A and one from List B, or:

3) Proofs must have the individual and/or spouse’s name on bill/receipt.

(Lease Agreement/Rent Receipt – may count as two, IF….utilities are included. Both must show that utilities are included).
