HHS Graduation will now start at 7:00 pm with gates opening at 5:30.

Back to Where It All Began 💛🦅
On day two of the HMS tradition of senior walkthroughs, HHS seniors returned to the classrooms and hallways of Heizer Middle School, and Will Rogers, Murray, Edison, and Jefferson Elementary Schools—places where their stories first started.
From crayons to cap and gown, it’s incredible to see how far they’ve come.
Teachers who once tied shoes and taught ABCs now cheered on soon-to-be graduates headed into the next chapter of life.
This week is more than a walk—it is a journey back through memories, milestones, and the mentors who helped shape our seniors.
The future is calling, but this week we pause to remember where the dreams began.⭐🦅

Captain Juan Contreras from Hobbs Fire Department Station Two and his crew came today to help Taylor Elementary students cap off their school-wide play day by getting sprayed by the fire hose! Hobbs Municipal Schools this week is doing various play days to cap off the end of a great school year for the students and staff.

From Little Eagles to Soaring Seniors!
It was day one of a week of seniors traditionally walking the halls of the schools in the district. These HHS seniors walked the halls of Coronado, Taylor, Stone Elementary, and Houston Middle School one last time—not as students, but as role models.
The same hallways where they once learned to read, tie their shoes, and dream big now echo with pride and purpose.
Younger students lined the walls with admiration, reminding us all that every journey begins with small steps.
To our seniors: your roots are here, but your wings will take you far.
To our future graduates watching today: your time will come before you know it!🎓

Please join us as we celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Heizer Middle School May 19th at 9 AM!
This has been a multi -year endeavor that is finally coming to fruition. We want to thank the NM Public School Facility Authority, the HMS FACT committee members, and of course the Hobbs community for supporting this project with the GO Bond election to update our facilities for the benefit of the students and staff within the district.
We are ALL Eagles and we hope to see you there!

⭐️Today Jefferson students who have zero absences and zero tardies earned a trip to Texas Road House. They got to play games, tour the restaurant and enjoy lunch there. Way to GO Jefferson!

Houston Middle School, as part pf the Hobbs Municipal Schools district was recently recognized by Solution Tree as a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community at Work® for its initial success in raising student achievement. Houston Middle School’s commitment to implementing the PLC at Work process has been a major contributing factor in making a visible, positive impact on student learning.
PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize that the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to:
1.Focus on learning
2.Build a collaborative culture
3.Create a results orientation
Responding to news of the recognition, Jon Gilcrease principal at Houston Middle School said, “Houston Middle School is proud to be recognized as a Promising PLC Practices School. This milestone reflects the dedication, collaboration, and relentless effort of our entire staff, who have worked tirelessly to build a culture focused on student learning and continuous improvement. Together, we are creating a stronger, more supportive learning community for every student.”

Today marked the third consecutive year that CTECH Hospitality students participated in the Sanger Elementary 5th Grade Manners Luncheon at the CORE! Under the guidance of Holly Smith, CTECH Hospitality Instructor, and in partnership with CTECH Advisory Member, Chef Joy Field, students provided a memorable fine dining experience for the 5th graders.
⭐️This was another incredible hands-on opportunity for our students to apply their hospitality skills in a real-world setting, and for our Sanger Suns to practice their manners in real time with each other, at a wonderfully prepared lunch.
👏A huge thank you to Chef Joy Field for her continued support and dedication to modeling success for our CTECH and students!

Athough it was a special senior recognition night at the game, the remainder of the night didn't go as planned. Our team gave it their all but the Eagles got shut out by a tough Carlsbad team on Tuesday night at the Veteran's Memorial Complex.
Thank you to HMS PR Intern Corey Ogle for the video and NMTX Sports for the great photos!

✨ A Dream Realized ✨
What began as a quiet dream in the heart of HHS music student Julio Castillo—to bring music, friendship, and purpose together—became something extraordinary.
With passion, persistence, and the support of the HHS Music Dept, Julio helped form the New Beginnings Orchestra Club, a student-led movement rooted in hope and harmony.
Monday night, history was made. For the first time in over 50 years, the sounds of a student orchestra filled Tydings Auditorium once again.

Today HMS honored our Central Office staff for Administrative Professional's Day! We hosted a lunch at the CORE and enjoyed some time just cutting up and having some 'down time' together. Thank you for all the ways you take care of Hobbs Schools!

A “Wish” Come True for Barissa and our CTECH construction students met the challenge!
In October 2022, Barissa Sky Stoker
was diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumor in her occipital lobe. Since then, her journey has been one of strength, resilience, and hope. After undergoing three craniotomies in just a few months and facing challenges like left-sided weakness and speech loss, Barissa continues to fight bravely through physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and chemotherapy. She has regular scans every three months, and even in June 2024, when her tumor showed growth, she hasn’t let that dim her light.🌟
Barissa had one special wish: a playhouse of her very own. And with the support of Hobbs Superintendent Gene Strickland, the incredible efforts of the CTECH Construction Students, Instructors and staff ,along with support from HMS Maintenance Staff and Make-A-Wish of New Mexico, her dream has officially come true!
Her playhouse isn’t just a structure—it’s a symbol of joy, imagination, and the community that surrounds her with love and support.
We are so proud of you, Barissa! Keep shining bright!! 🩷
